In mid-March of 2024, my girlfriend and I embarked on our wee Icelandic weekend saga. We stayed in an apartment in downtown Reykjavik, where we soaked in the sights. I loved all the colourful houses around town.

We joined a whirlwhind day trip on the Golden Circle tour, where we saw Gullfoss waterfall, the Geysir and visited Thingvellir National Park where we stood on the boundary between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates.

Unfortunately, some of our plans were thwarted by bad weather and then by an eruption near Grindavik. Although we couldn’t see the eruption up close, the red glow against the night clouds and the sight of lava from our flight’s window as we departed was cool to see.

On a personal note, this trip became a milestone for us as I proposed to my girlfriend, and we are now happily engaged!

On this trip I had at hand my Fujifilm XT-4, Viltrox 56mm f1.4 lens and Fujifilm XF 16-55mm f/2.8 lens. I really enjoyed taking photos in Iceland, you can see the best ones below.
