In the summer of 2023 I spent two weeks in Vietnam. We joined an Intrepid tour of the country, starting in Hanoi in the north and ending in Ho Chi Minh City in the south.

We spent a few days in Hanoi and I was able to get to work taking some photos. Seeing Hanoi’s Train Street was a hightlight for me despite missing the train.

I brought my Fujifilm XT4 and a new lightweight lens, a Fujifilm XC 16-50mm which weighed just 200g. I prioritised weight over quality for this trip which is a decision I regret. The lens is adequate for daylight street photography but I struggled when the sun began to set. The aperture wasn’t as low as I was used to and in hindsight I wish I’d brought my other lens with me, a mistake I’ll try to avoid in the future.

Despite this, I had a great trip and I still got some great shots that I’m happy with and want to share.
